How We Work

Sophisticated Chicken Press exists because great books deserve to find their readers. We pair the standards of a selective press with the control and earnings of self-publishing.

High standards. High author control.

Self-published authors often need help with editing and with choosing the right vendors. Hybrid presses answer that by selling a package. We don't. We connect you with proven vendors for only the help your book actually needs.

Who pays

You, and only for the help you need. We connect you with proven vendors. No packages, no upsells.

Who decides

We vet every submission, but once we take on your book, you keep full editorial control.

What you keep

100% of your royalties.

Whose name is on it

The Sophisticated Chicken Press imprint.

Because our name goes on every book, we're deliberately selective. We only take on projects we find genuinely promising and exciting.

We consider adult fiction across all genres with a particular interest in character-driven work with high stakes and a compelling voice or point of view.
